Pinpoint Test B : Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Override Switch

- B1 CHECK THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK OVERRIDE SWITCH
- Using the diagnostic scan tool, observe the PIDs BW_OVR_SW_1 and the SBW_OVR_SW_2.
- Press and release the brake transmission shift interlock override switch.
Does the SBW_OVR_SW_1 and the SBW_OVR_SW_2 status change from Pressed to Released?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. INSPECT for mechanical obstruction in the path of the TRCM output arm. No GO to B2 - B2 CHECK THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK OVERRIDE SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Brake Transmission Shift Interlock C3430.
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Refer to C3430-4 Ground Refer to C3430-6 Ground
Is voltage greater than 5 volts?
Yes GO to B3 No REPAIR the circuit. - B3 CHECK THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK OVERRIDE CIRCUIT
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Refer to C3430-4 Refer to C3430-2 Refer to C3430-6 Refer to C3430-2
Are the voltages greater than 5 volts?
Yes GO to B4 No REPAIR the circuit. If an open circuit is not found, INSTALL a new GSM. REFER to: Gear Shift Module (GSM) . - Measure:
- B4 CHECK THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- INSPECT C3532 for loose connector, corrosion, pushed out terminals.
Is voltage greater than 5 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new brake transmission shift interlock override switch. REFER to: Brake Shift Interlock Override Switch . No REPAIR the circuit. If an open circuit is not found, INSTALL a new GSM. REFER to: Gear Shift Module (GSM) .
