Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

  1. Unplug electrical connector from sensor. Insert a .016" (.40 mm) feeler gauge between throttle lever and throttle adjusting screw. Using an ohmmeter, check that continuity is present between terminals "B" and "D". If continuity is not present, loosen sensor mounting screws. Turn sensor until continuity is present.
  2. Replace feeler gauge with .022" (.55 mm) gauge and check that there is no continuity between terminals "B" and "D". If continuity is present, loosen sensor mounting screws. Turn sensor until continuity is not present.
