Deceleration Control System: Dashpot

  1. Quickly move throttle lever. Verify dashpot rod comes out quickly to its full stroke accompanying movement of throttle lever. See Figure . Release throttle lever and verify lever returns slowly to idle position after contacting dashpot rod.
  2. If dashpot requires adjustment, warm engine and run at idle. Connect a tachometer. Slowly increase engine speed. Verify throttle lever separates from dashpot rod at 2700-2900 RPM. To adjust, loosen dashpot lock nut and turn dashpot. Tighten lock nut to 14-22 Ft. Lbs. (20-29 N.m.).
