- Check ROOM fuse (15-amp) located in joint box, behind left kick panel. If fuse is good, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair wiring as necessary and replace fuse.
- Open trunk lid/hatch and locate keyless unit. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal "A" (Blue/Red wire) of keyless unit connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Blue/Red wire between keyless unit and joint box.
- Disconnect keyless unit connector. Check continuity between terminal "B" (Black wire) of keyless unit connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If continuity exists, reconnect connector and go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire between keyless unit and ground.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal 2R (Red/Yellow wire) of CPU connector. SeeFigure
. If voltage is 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5 volts, check CPU. See CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT (CPU) TEST
under COMPONENT TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal "E" (Red/Yellow wire) of keyless unit connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If voltage is 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5 volts, repair Red/Yellow wire between keyless unit and CPU.
- Replace transmitter battery. See REPLACING TRANSMITTER BATTERY
under SERVICING. Press LOCK or UNLOCK button on transmitter. If doors lock and unlock, dispose of old batteries. If doors do not lock or unlock, proceed to SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
