Ignition Coil Resistance (2.0L A/T)

  1. Disconnect ignition coil connector. Using ohmmeter, measure primary resistance between terminals. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Resistance should be as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace ignition coil.
  2. Remove secondary lead from ignition coil. Using ohmmeter, measure secondary resistance between terminal and coil tower. See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be as specified. Refer to the IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace ignition coil.

(1) Remove distributor cap to measure secondary coil resistance.
