Test 5: ACCEL/Resume Switch Not Operating

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Operate vehicle with cruise control system engaged. Attempt to operate ACCEL/RESUME switch. If only RESUME switch operates correctly, go to next step. If both RESUME and ACCEL do not operate, go to step 3 .
  2. Ensure customer is not attempting to operate ACCEL/RESUME switch and SET/COAST switch simultaneously. If so, inform that COAST switch has priority over ACCEL/RESUME switch operation and cruise control system is operating normally. If customer is not attempting simultaneous operation, retest cruise control system. If still malfunctioning, go to next step.
  3. Test cruise control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If cruise control switch checks out okay, replace cruise control actuator. See ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest cruise control system. If cruise control switch is faulty, replace cruise control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest cruise control system.
