Mode 4: EVAP System Repair Verification

NOTE: Performing Drive Mode 1 before Mode 4 is not necessary.
  1. Verify all the following conditions are met. All conditions must be within specification before engine is started to initiate in the EVAP system test:
    • Engine coolant temperature is 14-X°F (-10-X°C). X = engine coolant temperature upper limit as determined by barometric pressure. See Fig 1.
    • Intake air temperature is 50-140°F (-10-60°C).
    • Barometric Pressure 72.0 kPa or more.
    • Fuel tank level is 0.5-2.5 volts.
  2. Verify all accessory loads (A/C, headlights, blower fan and rear window defroster) are "OFF".
  3. Start the engine and race it at 3500 RPM to warm up completely.
  4. Drive the vehicle as specified. See Fig 2.
  5. Stop the vehicle and access the On Board System Readiness menu to check the drive mode completion status. See ON-BOARD SYSTEM READINESS TESTS ACCESS PROCEDURE .
    • If completed, RFC changes from "NO" to "YES".
    • If not completed, turn the ignition key to "OFF", then go back to step  1.
  6. Access to Diagnostic Monitoring Test Results menu to check the monitor results. See DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS . If measurements are not within specification, repair has not been completed.
  7. Verify no DTCs are available.
