Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Verify related repair information is available. Check for related service bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability. If information is available, perform repair or diagnosis according to repair information, if vehicle is not repaired, go to next step. If information is not available, and vehicle is not repaired, go to next step.
- Inspect poor connection of PCM connector. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector. Check for poor connection at PCM terminal "3W" (damaged, pulled-out terminals, corrosion, etc.). If a poor connection exists, repair or replace terminal, then go to step 8 . If a poor connection does not exist, go to next step.
- Inspect communication line for short to power. Turn ignition on, engine off. Measure voltage between PCM terminal "3W" (harness side) and body ground. If voltage is approximately zero volts, go to next step. If voltage is not approximately zero volts, repair or replace shorted harness, then go to step 9 .
- Inspect communication line for short to ground. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between PCM terminal "3W" (harness side) and body ground. If continuity exists, repair or replace shorted harness, then go to step 8 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Check poor connection at ABS/TCS control module. Check for poor connection at ABS/TCS control module terminal "J" (damaged, pulled-out terminal, corrosion, etc.). If a poor connection exists, repair or replace terminal, then go to step 8 . If a poor connection does not exist, go to next step.
- Inspect communication line for an open. Check continuity between ABS/TCS control module terminal "J" (harness side) and PCM terminal "3W" (harness side). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair or replace open harness, then go to step 8 .
- Inspect ABS/TCS control module. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition on, engine off. Connect voltmeter between PCM terminal "3W" (harness side) and body ground by AC range. Check PCM terminal "3W" voltage. If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, replace ABS/TCS control module, then go to next step.
- Verify trouble shooting. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition on, engine off. Clear DTC from PCM memory using WDS or equivalent scan tool. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . Start engine. Drive vehicle greater than 3.3 MPH (5.3 km/h). If same DTC is present, replace PCM, then go to next step. If same DTC is not present, go to next step.
- Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE . If there are any DTCs present, go to applicable DTC inspection. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If there are no DTCs present, trouble shooting is complete.
