Timing Belt Removal/Installation: Notes

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the CMP sensor and CKP sensor. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR and CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES.
Remove the ignition coils. See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
Remove the spark plug.
Remove in the order indicated in the illustration. Refer to REMOVAL NOTES .

Install in the reverse order of removal. Refer to INSTALLATION NOTES .
Inspect the air gap.
Specification

0.5-1.5 mm {0.020-0.059 in}

Adjust the drive belt deflection/tension. See SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
Start the engine and:
- Inspect the pulleys and drive belt for runout and contact.
- Inspect the ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION .
