Timing Belt Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the CMP sensor and CKP sensor. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR and CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES.
  3. Remove the ignition coils. See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the spark plug.
  5. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration. Refer to REMOVAL NOTES .

  7. Install in the reverse order of removal. Refer to INSTALLATION NOTES .
  8. Inspect the air gap.

    Specification 

    0.5-1.5 mm {0.020-0.059 in}

  9. Adjust the drive belt deflection/tension. See SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
  10. Start the engine and:
