Inspection and Verification

Visual Inspection Chart:

1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. Refer to the following chart:

2. If the concern remains after Inspection, connect the WDS or equivalent Tester to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the WDS or equivalent Tester menu. If the WDS or equivalent Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
1. check that the program card is correctly installed.
2. check the connections to the vehicle.
3. check that the ignition switch is in the RUN position.

3. If the WDS or equivalent Tester still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to PINPOINT TEST 1: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM).
