CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM PINPOINT TEST 8: FLASH CODE 3 - DEACTIVATOR SWITCH FAILURE

PINPOINT TEST 8 FLASH CODE 3 - DEACTIVATOR SWITCH FAILURE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE DEACTIVATOR SWITCH CIRCUITRY
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Speed Control Servo 0120-101.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 9, circuit B/Y, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new cruise control servo. See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO REMOVAL / INSTALLATION .
2 CHECK DEACTIVATOR SWITCH POWER
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Brake Pressure Switch 0120-04.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the brake pressure switch 0120-04 pin 1, circuit LB/R, harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the circuit in question. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
3 CHECK CIRCUIT B/Y FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 9, circuit B/Y, harness side and the brake pressure switch 0120-04 pin 2, circuit B/Y, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Install a new deactivator switch. See CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
