DTC P0011: Notes

DTC P0011 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P0011 CMP Timing over-advanced
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • Actual valve timing is over-advanced by 17°  (when the following conditions are met) from the target valve timing when the OCV is controlled at the maximum valve timing retard condition.

    MONITORING CONDITION 

    • Engine speed is below 4, 000 RPM. 
    • Engine coolant temperature is above 70-110°C {158-230°F}. 

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
  • MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • DTCs are stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • OCV malfunction
  • Spool valve in the OCV is stuck in the advance position.
  • Variable valve timing actuator is stuck in the advance position.
  • Loose timing chain or improper valve timing due to timing chain slippage
  • PCM malfunction
