Normal Operation

Under normal operation, the exterior mirror control switch uses circuit (GY) as the common circuit and the command circuit for both exterior mirror UP/DOWN and RIGHT/LEFT movement.

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK CIRCUIT (GY) FOR OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Inoperative rear view mirror. Disconnect: Exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301. Measure the resistance between exterior rear view mirror control switch 0912-301 pin 7, circuit (GY), and LH exterior rear view mirror 0912-302 pin 2, circuit (GY); or between exterior rear view mirror control switch 0912-301 pin 7, circuit (GY), and RH exterior rear view mirror 0912-303 pin 2, circuit (GY). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
2	CHECK THE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH Check the exterior rear view mirror control switch. See table at the end of this pinpoint test. Is the exterior rear view mirror control switch OK?	Yes	Check the suspect exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the suspect exterior mirror motor for open or shorted circuits, and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the jumper harness is not OK, install a new exterior mirror. See EXTERIOR MIRROR . Otherwise, install a new exterior mirror motor. See EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR . Test the system for normal operation.
2		No	Install a new exterior rear view mirror control switch. See EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH . Test the system for normal operation.
