Possible Causes

NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - NO POWER TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 8 NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - NO POWER TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE DLC D-01 FOR DAMAGE
NOTE:
  • Most faults are due to connector and/or wiring concerns. Carry out a thorough inspection and verification before proceeding with the Pinpoint Test.
  • Disconnect the scan tool table from the DLC.
  • Inspect the DLC D-01 pins 4, 5, and 16 for damage.
  • Are the pins OK?
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the DLC D-01. Repeat the network test with the scan tool.
2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE DLC D-01
  • Measure the voltage between the DLC D-01 pin 16, circuit (GY/R), harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to next step.
No Verify the smart junction box (SJB) fuse 29 (20A) is OK. If OK, repair circuit (0) for an open. Repeat the network test with the scan tool.
3 CHECK THE DLC GROUND CIRCUITS
  • Measure the resistance between the DLC D-01 pin 4, circuit (B/Y), harness side and ground; and between the DLC D-01 pin 5, circuit (B/W), harness side and ground.
  • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes Repair the scan tool. Repeat the network test with the scan tool.
No Repair circuit (B/Y) or (B/W) for and open. Repeat the network test with the scan tool.
