Possible Causes

DELAYED ACCESSORY RELAY IS INOPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 5 THE DELAYED ACCESSORY IS INOPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK ACCESSORY RELAY SUPPLY VOLTAGE
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Accessory relay.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between ground and accessory relay:
    • pin 85.
    • pin 30.
  • Are both voltages greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Verify smart junction box (SJB) fuses 6 (10A) and 16 (30A) are OK. If the fuses are OK, install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) , . Test the system for normal operation.
2 CHECK ACCESSORY RELAY COIL VOLTAGE
  • Close all doors.
  • Key in OFF position.
  • With the doors still closed, measure the voltage between ground and accessory relay pin 85.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) , . Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK ACCESSORY RELAY COIL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Measure the resistance between accessory relay connector pin 86, and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Install a new accessory relay. Test the system for normal operation.
No Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) , . Test the system for normal operation.
