Cruise Control System Pinpoint Test 8: Cruise Control Indicator Lamp Is Always On

CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP IS ALWAYS ON - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 8 CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP IS ALWAYS ON
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK CRUISE CONTROL SERVO
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: cruise control servo 0120-101.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Check the cruise control indicator lamp.
  • Does the cruise control indicator lamp remain on? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new cruise control servo.
See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT V/W FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Smart junction box (SJB) J-2280a.
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 1 circuit V/W, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the V/W circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • damaged pins.
    • pushed-out pins.
  • Connect the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Install a new SJB.
See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) .
Perform the self-test diagnostics.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
