Cruise Control System Pinpoint Test 9: Flash Code 4 - Speed Signal Circuit Failure

FLASH CODE 4 - SPEED SIGNAL CIRCUIT FAILURE - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 9 FLASH CODE 4 - SPEED SIGNAL CIRCUIT FAILURE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
  • Check the speedometer for correct operation by driving the vehicle.
  • Does the speedometer operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER to diagnose the speedometer.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT V/O FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Cruise Control Servo 0120-101.
  • Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 0140-175B.
  • Measure the resistance between the PCM 0140-175B pin 1 circuit V/O, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 3 circuit V/O, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Install a new cruise control servo.
See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
No Repair the V/O circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
