Possible Causes

MIRRORS ARE INOPERATIVE - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 1 THE MIRRORS ARE INOPERATIVE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) FUSE
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Check fuse: Smart junction box (SJB) fuse 30 (5A).
  • Is the fuse OK? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new fuse. Test the system for normal operation. If fuse 30 (5 A) fails again, check for a short to ground. Repair as necessary.
2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL - CIRCUIT (BR/R)
  • Disconnect: Exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301.
  • Measure the voltage between exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301 pin 4, circuit (BR/R), and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK CIRCUIT (B/L) FOR OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301 pin 8, circuit (B/L), and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT (G/Y) FOR OPEN
  • Disconnect: LH exterior rear view mirror 0912-302.
  • Disconnect: RH exterior rear view mirror 0912-303.
  • Measure the resistance between exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301 pin 7, circuit (G/Y), and LH exterior rear view mirror 0912-302 pin 2, circuit (G/Y).
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Install a new exterior rear view mirror control switch. Test the system for normal operation.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
