Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[L3 WITH TC]

WARNING: A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn oft the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the charge air cooler duct.
3. Remove the battery and battery tray.
4. Remove the air cleaner and air hose.
5. Drain the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS[L3 WITH TC].)
6. Disconnect the wiring harness.




7. Remove the ECT sensor.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque
10 - 14 N.m (102 - 142 kgf.cm, 8 - 123 in.lbf)


9. Refill the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS[L3 WITH TC].)
