Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Removal/Installation [L5]
WARNING:
- When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.
CAUTION:
- Parts for engines manufactured in Mexico and Hiroshima cannot be used interchangeably as the engine will not operate correctly resulting in a serious malfunction. To prevent this, when replacing parts refer to the 'VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) CODE ' table below and verify the engine's place of manufacture before performing the servicing. - Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [L5] .)
- Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5] .)
- Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
- Remove the ECT sensor.

- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Refill the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [L5] .)
