Passenger-Side Air Bag Module Removal [Standard Deployment Control System]

WARNING:

Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) NOTE:

When removing the passenger-side air bag module, perform the procedure in the posture shown in the figure.

Switch the ignition off.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 minor more . (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
Remove the following parts:

1. Glove compartment (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Dashboard undercover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4. Front scuff plate (passenger-side) (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5. Front side trim (passenger-side) (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
6. Lower panel (passenger-side) (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the cap.
Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connector.

Remove the fastener.

Remove the nuts.
Remove the brackets.

Remove the screws.

Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and detach guide A from the dashboard while spreading the dashboard in the direction of arrow (1).

While avoiding area A shown in the figure, pull the front side of the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure (3).

Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (4) and detach guides B from the dashboard (5).

Remove the passenger-side air bag module (6).
