Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)
- The battery assures voltage for engine starting and for the vehicle's electrical devices when the vehicle is being driven. If the frequency of battery charging/discharging is high, the battery will deteriorate which could result in poor engine startability and the loss of assured supply voltage to the vehicle's electrical load.
- The current sensor sends a battery charge/discharge value to the PCM via the front body control module (FBCM). If the accumulated charge/discharge value exceeds the specified value, the PCM determines battery deterioration. In this case, the PCM determines a malfunction in a battery-related part and stores a DTC.
