Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)
- The PCM compares the signals of ECT sensor No. 2 and IAT sensor No. 1 to detect a malfunction in the ECT sensor No. 2. If the difference between the engine coolant temperature (ECT sensor No. 2 signal) and the intake air temperature (IAT sensor No. 1 signal) is high, the PCM determines a malfunction in ECT sensor No. 2, and stores a DTC.
