Curtain Air Bag Module Removal/Installation [Standard Deployment Control System]: Notes
WARNING:
- Handling the curtain air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the curtain air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) - Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Partially peel back the seaming welts.
- Remove the following parts:
- Sunroof seaming welt (With sunroof system) (See SUNROOF UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Sunvisor (See SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front map light (See MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front side trim (RH) (With center display) (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Adjust anchor cover (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Upper anchor installation bolt on the seat belt (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear seat side back (See REAR SEAT SIDE BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

- Set the selector lever component aside. (ATX) (Except mexico) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Set the shift lever component aside. (MTX) (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R] .)
- Remove the headliner. (See HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the clip. (See Clip Removal Note .)
- Remove the bolts.
- Pull hook A, B and C in the direction shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
- Remove the curtain air bag module.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
