Driver-Side Air Bag Module Installation [Standard Deployment Control System]

WARNING:
  1. Point the upper side of the driver-side air bag module towards the steering wheel as shown in the figure.

  2. Connect the horn switch connector.
  3. Connect the driver-side air bag module connector and press in the locking device.
  4. Move the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow.

  5. Rotate the driver-side air bag module clockwise 180 degrees.

  6. Lift the driver-side air bag module wiring harness in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

  7. Align the driver-side air bag module pins with the steering wheel holes.

  8. Press the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and attach the pins.
    CAUTION:
    • If the driver-side air bag module is installed with the wiring harness contacting the driver-side air bag module pins, the wiring harness may be damaged. Carefully install the driver-side air bag module while verifying that the wiring harness does not contact the pins.
  9. Verify that the driver-side air bag module is securely installed.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  11. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  12. Verify that the air bag/seat belt pretensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
