Clock Spring Inspection [Two-Step Deployment Control System]
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION ).
- Remove the following parts:
- Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ).
- Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). (3) Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Disconnect the clock spring connector. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ).
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector. (with adaptive front lighting system (AFS)) (See STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.
- If not as indicated in the table, replace the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ).
NOTE:
- When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
