Crash Zone Sensor Removal/Installation (Standard Deployment Control System): Notes
WARNING:
- Handling the crash zone sensor improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the crash zone sensor. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS (Standard Deployment Control System) .) - Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the seal board upper. (See SEAL BOARD UPPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front bumper. (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL .) (See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the crash zone sensor connector. (See CRASH ZONE SENSOR CONNECTOR DISCONNECT NOTE .)
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the bracket.
- Remove the crash zone sensor.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the onboard diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
