DTC B00A0:81/B00A0:87 - SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CONNECTOR WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions and the Service Information before handling the air bag system components. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Disconnect the occupant classification sensor connector. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Is there any malfunction of the occupant classification sensor connector or passenger-side front seat connector?	Yes	Replace the malfunctioning part, then go to Step 4.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR Inspect the occupant classification sensor. (See OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Is the voltage of each terminal normal?	Yes	CAN communication line can be considered the cause. Perform the malfunction diagnosis according to the troubleshooting procedure for multiplex communication system. (See FOREWORD .) Then go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the wiring harness or connector, then go to the next step.
3	PERFORM SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC INSPECTION Reconnect the disconnected connectors. Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on). Clear the DTC for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Are the same DTCs displayed?	Yes	Replace the occupant classification sensor. (See FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Go to the next step.
3		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
4	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Verify DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Are the same DTCs displayed?	Yes	Replace the SAS control module. (See SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
