DTC B1044-01: Auto Leveling Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Adaptive Front Lighting System): Notes

DTC B1044:01 (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Auto leveling sensor circuit malfunction
Detection condition
  • Auto leveling sensor circuit voltage of 0.25 V or less or 4.75 V or more is detected by AFS control module for 10 s or more with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).
Fail-safe
  • The swivel actuator is moved to the center.
  • The headlight leveling actuator is stopped at the position when the malfunction is determined.
Possible cause
  • Auto leveling sensor connector or terminal malfunction
  • AFS control module connector or terminal malfunction
  • Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • AFS control module terminal F and auto leveling sensor terminal C
    • AFS control module terminal T and auto leveling sensor terminal B
      • AFS control module terminal J and auto leveling sensor terminal A
  • Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • AFS control module terminal F and auto leveling sensor terminal C
    • AFS control module terminal T and auto leveling sensor terminal B
      • AFS control module terminal J and auto leveling sensor terminal A
  • Open circuit in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • AFS control module terminal F and auto leveling sensor terminal C
    • AFS control module terminal T and auto leveling sensor terminal B
      • AFS control module terminal J and auto leveling sensor terminal A
  • Auto leveling sensor malfunction
  • AFS control module malfunction
