Generator Removal/Installation (VIN M): Notes

WARNING:
  • Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.
  • When the battery terminals are connected, touching the vehicle body with generator terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before performing the following operation.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  2. Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
  3. Remove the front splash shield (RH). (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the front under cover No. 2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the generator drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
  6. Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (See DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness clips and fuel pressure sensor connector.

  8. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
