Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CONNECTOR WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions and the workshop Article before handling the air bag system components. (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Switch the ignition to off. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more . (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Disconnect the occupant classification sensor connector. (Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Is there any malfunction of the occupant classification sensor connector or seat connector?	Yes	Replace the malfunctioning part, then go to Step 5.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND Occupant classification sensor and fuse block connectors are disconnected. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side): SAS control module connector terminal 3S SAS control module connector terminal 3Q NOTE: Inspect for continuity while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and occupant classification sensor control module. Is there continuity?	Yes	Replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 5.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT Occupant classification sensor and fuse block connectors are disconnected. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side): Occupant classification sensor terminal 3D-SAS control module connector terminal 3S Occupant classification sensor terminal 3C-SAS control module connector terminal 3Q NOTE: Inspect for continuity while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and occupant classification sensor. Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to Step 5.
4	INSPECT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY Occupant classification sensor and fuse block connectors are disconnected. Connect the negative battery cable. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on). Measure the voltage at the following terminals (wiring harness-side): SAS control module connector terminal 3S SAS control module connector terminal 3Q NOTE: Measure the voltage while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and occupant classification sensor. Is the voltage 0V ?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to the next step.
5	PERFORM SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC INSPECTION Reconnect the disconnected connectors. Connect the negative battery cable. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on). Clear the DTC for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (Refer to CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (Refer to DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Are DTCs B00A0:81, B00A0:87 displayed?	Yes	Replace the occupant classification sensor. (Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Then go to the next step.
5		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
6	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (Refer to CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Verify DTCs using the M-MDS. (Refer to DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Are DTCs B00A0:81, B00A0:87 displayed?	Yes	Replace the SAS control module. (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
6		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
