Steering Lock Unit Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the following parts:
- Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Hood release lever
- Driver-side lower panel
- Driver-side knee air bag module
- Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R] .)
- Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear console
- Center lower panel
- Driver-side air bag module
- Steering wheel
- Upper column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Lower column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Clock spring
- Light switch
- Wiper and washer switch
- Joint cover
- Steering shaft
- Make a groove on the heads of the bolts by punching them with a chisel using a hammer.
- Remove the bolts by rotating them counterclockwise.
- Remove the steering lock unit.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. (See STEERING LOCK UNIT INSTALLATION NOTE .)
- If the steering lock unit is replaced, perform the immobilizer system-related part programming.
