DTC U0428:86 (VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location	Check sum error received from steering angle sensor
Detection condition	The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that the vehicle control module (VCM) received a check sum error from the steering angle sensor for 10 s.
Fail-safe	(See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (US)] .)
Possible cause	Steering angle sensor malfunction Vehicle control module (VCM) malfunction (built into body control module (BCM)) Body control module (BCM) malfunction - Gateway function malfunction
