DTC B1142:14 (MAZDA EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	INSPECT IG1 RELAY No. 2 FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (See RELAY INSPECTION .) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
2	INSPECT VERIFY DTCs Perform the DTC inspection for the following modules. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Body control module (BCM) PCM Mazda M Hybrid battery (with Mazda M Hybrid) DC-DC converter (Mazda M Hybrid) (with Mazda M Hybrid) Integrated starter generator (ISG) (with Mazda M Hybrid) Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. Is the part normal?	Yes	Without Mazda M Hybrid: Go to the next step. With Mazda M Hybrid: Go to Step 5.
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
4	INSPECT GENERATOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to Step 6.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
5	INSPECT Mazda EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable connector and terminal. (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Are the connector and terminal normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
6	INSPECT Mazda EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CONTROL MODULE IG1 RELAY CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND AND OPEN CIRCUIT Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground and open circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .) Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE control module. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(US)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the Mazda EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE control module, then go to the next step. (See Mazda EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Repair completion verification 2		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
