DTC U0428-68: Error Signal Received From Steering Angle Sensor

U0428-68: (VCM) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Error signal received from steering angle sensor
Detection condition
  • The vehicle control module (VCM) receives an error signal from the steering angle sensor.
  • The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that a difference between the angle signal received from the steering angle sensor and the angle signal received from the electric power steering (EPS) control module is standard or more.
Fail-safe (See DTC TABLE [VCM] .)
Possible cause
  1. Internal malfunction related DTCs are stored in the following modules.
  2. Steering angle sensor related DTCs are stored in the body control module (BCM). (See DTC TABLE [BCM] .)
  3. DTCs are stored in the electric power steering (EPS) control module. (See DTC TABLE [EPS] .)
  4. Steering angle sensor malfunction (Refer to CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.)
  5. Electric power steering (EPS) control module malfunction (Refer to STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
  6. Vehicle control module (VCM) malfunction (built into body control module (BCM)) (Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
