Diagnostic Procedure

DOOR GLASS DOES NOT OPERATE USING REMOTE TRANSMITTER (POWER WINDOW SYSTEM) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 VERIFY VEHICLE CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • After short-pressing the unlock button on the remote transmitter 3 times within 2s, press and hold it within 2s.
  • Is the open operation for all door glass performed?
Yes Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain to the customer that there is no malfunction with the system.)
No Verify that the power window system initial setting is completed.
(See POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE .)
Go to the next step.
2 VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY POWER WINDOW SYSTEM RELATED PARTS
  • Use the power window main switch or the power window subswitch to operate the door glass automatically or manually.
  • Does the door glass operate automatically or manually?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location following the applicable symptom troubleshooting procedure and perform the repair completion verification.
(See BASIC POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INSPECTION [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM] ).
3 VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM RELATED PARTS
  • Perform a door lock/unlock operation using the remote transmitter.
  • Is door locked/unlocked?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location following the applicable symptom troubleshooting procedure and perform the repair completion verification.
(See LOCK/UNLOCK OPERATION NOT POSSIBLE USING REMOTE TRANSMITTER [SECURITY AND LOCKS] .)
4 INSPECT FOR COMMUNICATION ERROR BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  • Switch the ignition OFF and operate the power window main switch within 45s to automatically close the door glass.
  • Open the door during the door glass auto close operation.
  • Is the auto close operation stopped?
Yes Go to Step 8.
No Go to the next step.
5 INSPECT REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the rear body control module (RBCM) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector.
6 INSPECT POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the power window main switch connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector.
7 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND POWER WINDOW MAIN FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Verify that the rear body control module (RBCM) and power window main switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect for continuity between power window main switch terminal 1E (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.
No Go to the next step.
8 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND POWER WINDOW MAIN FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
  • Verify that the rear body control module (RBCM) and power window main switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  • Measure the voltage at the power window main switch terminal 1E (wiring harness-side).
  • Is the voltage 0 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.
9 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Verify that the rear body control module (RBCM) connector and the power window main switch connector are disconnected.
  • Inspect the wiring harness between rear body control module (RBCM) terminal 3D (wiring harness) and power window main switch terminal 1E (wiring harness) for continuity.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.
10 DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION LOCATION IS POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH
  • Replace the power window main switch. (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  • After short-pressing the unlock button on the remote transmitter 3 times within 2s, press and hold it within 2s.
  • Is the open operation for all door glass performed?
Yes Troubleshooting completed (explain the contents of the servicing to the customer.).
No Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction has not been resolved, replace the rear body control module (RBCM).
(See REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
