Removal, Installation & Adjustment

  1. Remove stop bar for airflow sensor plate. Heat airflow sensor plate fastening screw with hot-air gun and remove carefully to avoid shearing screw. Remove airflow sensor plate. See Fig 1 . Clean airflow sensor plate fastening screw hole with a 6-mm x 125 tap.
  2. Fit airflow sensor plate, shaped washer and flat washer onto lever. Tighten NEW micro-encapsulated bolt only slightly so that airflow sensor plate can still be moved. See Fig 1 .
  3. To center airflow sensor plate, remove ECU. Briefly connect jumper to contacts No. 30 and 87. See Fig 2 . Fuel pump will run building fuel pressure and airflow sensor plate moves into "zero" position. Using a .002" (.05 mm) feeler gauge, ensure airflow sensor plate is exactly centered. See Fig 1 . Tighten bolt to 44-49 INCH lbs. (5.0-5.5 Nm.). Check that airflow sensor plate moves easily by pressing sensor plate down by hand. Sensor plate must not jam. When sensor plate is released, it must not jam as it moves back. Listen for sensor plate to strike against resilient stop. Recenter airflow sensor plate if necessary.
  4. Airflow sensor plate must be flush with top edge of cylindrical part of air funnel. In this position, play of .04-.08" (1-2 mm) must exist when airflow sensor plate is pressed as far as the control plunger.
NOTE: Airflow sensor plate must not jam even with slight pressure applied to the side.
