Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

Engine coolant temperature sensor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) type sensor. As sensor temperature increases, resistance decreases. Engine coolant temperature sensor converts engine coolant temperature to a voltage signal. The engine control module uses engine coolant temperature to control injection start control, after-start enrichment, warm-up enrichment, acceleration enrichment, deceleration fuel injection shutoff, ignition at engine start, ignition during warm-up, ignition at closed throttle (idle), ignition at deceleration shutoff, catalyst warm-up, charcoal canister purge, 2-3 upshift delay, camshaft adjustment, overheat protection, and anti-knock control.
