Replacement of complete lock set 

Replacement of a complete lock set (keys, EIS, ESL, ECM) is generally not required, because all of the parts can be replaced separately while maintaining the electronic lock number.

Replacement should only be accomplished when necessary due to MB requirements, e.g. when a key is lost while transporting a new vehicle to the field organization, and not simply when requested by a customer. 

In this case all of the components required for DAS 3 must be replaced. The vehicle is given a new electronic lock number. This is documented in the key management upon delivery.

Replacement in workshop with key programming station 

• Check whether complete replacement is absolutely necessary.
• Have new electronic lock number obtained and allocated.
• Program keys 1, 2 and 3 according to submission of key in workshop with key programming station and insert all keys one after another into the EIS and turn to drive position after they are released to turn.
• When replacing EIS and ESL proceed according to the procedures for replacement of EIS in workshop with key programming station and replacement of ESL.
• Confirm replacement by signing documentation.
• Present keys to customer and obtain signature.

Replacement in workshop without key programming station 

• Check whether complete replacement is absolutely necessary.
• Have new electronic lock number obtained and allocated.
• Order EIS and keys 1, 2 and 3.
• After obtaining keys and EIS, install EIS and ESL in vehicle.
• Check EIS for proper function.
• Personalize ESL and check for proper function according to procedure for replacing ESL.
• Insert the three keys one after another into the EIS and turn to drive position after key is released to turn.
• Activate EIS and ESL according to procedures for replacement of EIS and replacement of ESL in workshop without key programming station.
• Confirm replacement by signing documentation.
• Present keys to customer and obtain signature.

Procedure with workshop key instead of HHT 

The following procedures can be performed with the HHT or workshop key

• Activation of EIS
• Releasing transport protection for ESL
• Personalization of ESL and EIS
• Activation of ESL
• Diagnosis on EIS
• Diagnosis ESL
• Disabling key

Execution of the functions listed above illustrated for the HHT are replaced by the following subfunctions when a workshop key is used:
