Accelerator position sensor function - GF07.04-P-5029-01H
Engines 602, 604, 605, 606
The rotary potentiometer in the IFI/DFI [ERE/EVE] accelerator pedal position sensor (R25/2) translates the mechanical action of the accelerator pedal as transmitted via the Bowden cable into an electrical signal corresponding to the position of the accelerator pedal.
This potentiometer signal is used by the IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) and the DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8) for the following functions:
- Quantity control
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR [ARF])
- Pressure control flap regulation
Safety functions
The CTP switch (R25/2s1) performs the following safety functions:
- Monitors the accelerator pedal position sensor (R25/2)
- In the event that the rotary potentiometer fails, only closed throttle quantity (if CTP switch (R25/2s1) is open) or a sharply reduced wide open throttle quantity will be released.
