Pump element design The pump plunger (10/16) is provided with a vertical groove (10/19) and a helical cut in its side. This plunger helix forms a control edge (10/17) that serves to regulate the quantity of fuel for injection.
The pump barrel is provided with a bore (10/15) (feed and control bore), through which the fuel travels from the suction gallery to the pressure chamber and through which it can flow back again at the end of delivery.
