Function with ignition "ON" and engine running

With ignition ON, the overvoltage protection relay (K1) is controlled via the ground connection from the IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) or DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8). Relay K8 supplies battery voltage (unfused) to the IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) or DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8) and also supplies voltage to the remaining IFI [ERE] or DFI [EVE] system components via the 10 A fuse.

Function with ignition "OFF"

The detected voltage drop at circuit 15U causes the IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) or DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8) to connect ground (via the holding relay lead) to the overvoltage protection relay (K1) or the relay module (K40) for approximately 4 seconds.

Power continues to be supplied to the fuel quantity actuator (Y23/1) in the IFI [ERE] inline injection pump or the shut-off valve (Y23/2y1) in the DFI [EVE] distributor pump via connector sleeve Z7/25 and the engine can be switched off.
