Function of moving electronic ignition switch to position 1 or 2 - GF80.57-P-2002A

MODEL 202 as of 1.6.97, 208, 210.081 /281, 210 (except 210.081 /281) as of 1.3.97

After the electronic ignition switch control module (N73)  has been released by the electric steering column control module (N26/5)  allowing the remote control key to be turned, the remote control key can be turned to position 1 or 2 in the EIS. After leaving position 0, the EIS interrupts the power supply for the ESC. This precaution prevents a malfunction in the steering column lock while driving. Upon reaching position 1 the CAN message circuit "15R ON" is transmitted, after reaching position 2 the CAN message circuit "15 ON" is transmitted. The drive authorization is checked  by means of secret data interchange between the EIS and engine control module.

IMPORTANT

In positions 1 and 2 the remote control key cannot  be removed.
