The trunk lid remote control (TRC)  includes remote controlled unlocking of the trunk lid.

This function can be actuated when the vehicle is unlocked with the trunk lid remote control switch (S15) in the passenger compartment on the left next to the rearview mirror adjustment switch (S21).

The trunk lid remote control switch (S15) is equipped with an indicator light as well as an illumination feature.

The indicator lamp indicates whether the trunk lid is open or closed and is connected in parallel to the trunk illumination (E18/1).

When the vehicle is locked the trunk lid remote control function (TRC) can be actuated by actuating the infrared remote control for central locking (RCL) twice within 0.8 s.

The trunk lid remote control switch (S15) and the infrared remote control module (RCL) (N54) switch a signal to the all-activity control module (N10) when actuated. This sends the signal "Open trunk lid" to the PSE control module (combined) (A37) via a CAN bus. This then produces pressure and simultaneously actuates the CL trunk lid release valve (Y65/3). The pressure causes the trunk lid remote control pneumatic element to actuate the locking pawl opening the trunk lid.

Unintentional actuation of the trunk lid remote control switch (S15) while driving is prevented by checking the speed signal. The speed signal is present at the all-activity module (N10) from where it is transferred via the CAN bus to the PSE control module (combined) (A37).

After locking the vehicle from the outside (with infrared remote control key) the trunk lid remote control function (TRC) with the trunk lid remote control switch (S15) is inhibited.

NOTE: Pneumatic or electrical malfunctions in the trunk lid remote control system (TRC) are recognized by the PSE control module (combined) (A37) and stored in the DTC memory of the all-activity module (N10).

The DTC memory can be read out and erased with the hand-held tester (HHT).

(For testing see Diagnosis Manual (DHB), body, volume 1. Index3.3)

IMPORTANT

When the DTC memory in the PSE control module (PSE), (A37) is erased with the hand-held tester (HHT), the convenience feature DTC memory (CF) and all-activity module (N10) are also erased automatically.
