Function of electronic ignition switch control module - GF80.57-P-4102-01A

Transmission of CAN messages circuit 15 ON, 15 R ON When the electronic ignition switch control module (N73)  is in position 1 the CAN message circuit 15 R ON is transmitted, upon reaching position 2 the message circuit 15 ON is transmitted.

Power supply for remote control key

The remote control key is supplied with power after it is inserted into the key opening. The EIS allows an alternating current to flow through the annular coil in the key opening. This induces a current in the coil in the remote control key.

Actuation of electric steering column (ESC) control module (N26/5)

The ESC is activated by the EIS via two separate serial data buses.

Communication between the EIS and ESC regarding the steering lock and checking drive authorization is accomplished via these buses.

The buses are redundant, i.e. in the event of failure of one bus or one receiver communication is still possible.

Reading in the switch signal

The switch positions of the combination switch (S4)  and the FAN switch (S4/2)  are read in by the EIS and transmitted as a CAN message. The switch positions of the combination switch (S4)  are voltage coded.
