Test 10: RCL Control Module Activation Output

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mercedes-Benz C280 and 1996 Mercedes-Benz C220. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using Adapter Cable (202 589 15 63 00), connect Breakout Box (124 589 00 21 00) to remote control locking control module. See Figure. Measure voltage between terminals No. 1 and 4 at breakout box. Close and unlock all doors. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check the following and repair as necessary:
    • Check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    • Replace RCL Control Module.
    • Replace pneumatic system equipment control module.
    • Replace convenience feature control module (if equipped).
    • Replace anti-theft alarm control module (if equipped).
  2. Measure voltage between terminals No. 1 and 4 at breakout box. Lock vehicle using remote transmitter and keep transmitter button depressed. Less than one volt should exist, vehicle should lock and Red indicator light should flash. If all these conditions are met, activation output is okay at this time. If any of these conditions are not met, check the following and repair as necessary:
    • Check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    • Perform TEST 3 through TEST 5.
    • Replace RCL control module.
NOTE: A break in test numbering occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted
