WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mercedes-Benz E320 and 1996 Mercedes-Benz E300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using Adapter Cable (202 589 15 63 00), connect Breakout Box (124 589 00 21 00) to remote control locking control module. See Figure. Measure voltage between terminals No. 3 and 12 at breakout box. Close and unlock all doors. If less than one volt exists, go to next step. If greater than one volt exists, check the following and repair as necessary:
    • Check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    • Replace RCL control module.
    • Replace combination control module.
  2. Measure voltage between terminals No. 3 and 12 at breakout box. Lock vehicle using remote transmitter and keep transmitter button depressed. Vehicle should lock, battery voltage should exist and Red indicator light should flash. If all these conditions are met, activation output is okay at this time. If any of these conditions are not met, check the following and repair as necessary:
    • Check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    • Perform TEST 3 through TEST 5.
    • Replace RCL control module.
NOTE: A break in step numbering occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted
