Rear-impact collision function - GF91.60-P-2004M
MODEL 215, 220 as of 1.9.02
The adjacent illustration shows the sequence over time for ETR deployment
Rear end collision
(1st and 2nd triggering threshold)
The restraint systems control module (N2/7) registers a high acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle due to the collision. It gives the deployment pulse to the:
- driver ETR [GUS] ignition squib (R12/1)
- Passenger ETR [GUS] ignition squibR12/2), as well as
- left rear ETR ignition squib (R12/6) and
- Right rear ETR ignition squib (R12/7)
The occupied status of the front passenger's seat is detected via the passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48) If the passenger seat is not occupied, the passenger-side ETR does not deploy (Exception: this also applies to a child seat with transponder attached to the passenger seat that is detected by the control module, but whose parameter set has not been programmed). The rear emergency tensioning retractors are always triggered if a rear-end collision occurs, even if the rear seats are unoccupied.
