Programming of control units with Flash Support File - AR54.21-P-0014Z: Notes

IMPORTANT Notes on programming control units   AH54.21-P-0001-03Z
Program with Flash Support File (support through User Help Desk) 
1 Connect diagnosis system, start "Xentry Diagnostics" (XD) and select vehicle model AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    NOTES During the entire work procedure a sufficiently large voltage supply must be provided for the vehicle's on-board electrical system.
Otherwise, any undervoltage may damage the control units.
 
    IMPORTANT Communication with control unit is being established.  
2 Determine the part number of the control unit with the help of the current parts catalog Only required if data cannot be read out of the control unit.  
3 Select the "Adaptations" menu item in the control unit IMPORTANT To program the control unit select the "User Help Desk Support" menu item.
4 Select Query control unit software IMPORTANT For support through the "User Help Desk".
5 Save query data to "User Help Desk" IMPORTANT Send the "Flash Support File" on an external data medium.
6 Send query data to "User Help Desk" IMPORTANT Send the "Flash Support File" through the known channels to the "User Help Desk".
7 Determine control unit software IMPORTANT The control unit software is determined by the "User Help Desk". The "User Help Desk" creates a response file and makes it available.
8 Load response data and program control unit IMPORTANT If necessary, unpack the data make available by the "User Help Desk" and copy them to an external data medium. Read in the "Flash Support File" ("Load response file") and follow the instructions.
IMPORTANT To switch control units into the write mode for control unit programming, an unlocking code (key) is required for the respective control unit. If the regular "Xentry flash" online procedures are used, this is automated and queried without user intervention at the central systems. In the fallback solution using the "Flash Support File", the user is prompted by XD to ask for the activation code by phone from the "Star Diagnosis User Help Desk". A detailed process description can be found in the INFO information system.
9 Contact "User Help Desk Star Diagnosis" Only if the control unit does not communicate with the XD or the problem cannot be eliminated using the current XD-DVD.
IMPORTANT Have the flash/code support package, the control unit version and, where applicable, the repair job close at hand.
 
10 Forward flash/code support package, control unit version and, where applicable, the repair job documentation to the "Star Diagnosis User Help Desk" IMPORTANT This information is needed for problem solving. This information is used to create the Flash Support File.
Star Diagnosis User Help Desk sends the Flash Support File electronically to the workshop.
 
11 Carry out re-documentation procedure in Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc) in VeDoc screen Only after successful programming of the control unit.  
12 Perform software calibration number (SCN) coding for control units Only when required AR54.21-P-0015X 
13 Run teach-in procedures Only when required  
14 Read fault memory, erase if necessary    
15 Disconnect diagnostic system   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
