Design 

An "electronic key" is integrated in the transmitter key. This key includes an FM radio transmitter, an infrared transmitter/receiver unit, a computer chip as well as 2 batteries (button cells). Moreover, the following controls and control indicators are integrated:

IMPORTANT The mechanical emergency key can be released and removed using the slider for unlocking the mechanical emergency key.

Task 

The following functions can be controlled:

Central locking (CL [ZV]) 

Actuate "Lock" transmit button:

Actuate "Unlock" transmit button ("Selective" setting)

Actuate "Unlock" transmit button ("Global" setting):

IMPORTANT Switchover unlocking from "Selective" to "Global" or vice versa:

Panic alarm (only USA ONLY )

Actuate panic alarm transmit button:

Drive authorization stage 3 (DAS 3) 

When the transmitter key is inserted into the EIS control unit (N73) it is supplied with voltage. Data exchange takes place to verify the drive authorization status.

Battery check 

When the "Lock" transmit button or the "Unlock" transmit button is actuated, the battery indicator lamp comes on momentarily and indicates the proper state of the batteries in the transmitter key.
